Issue 2: September 2008

Word! is an arts-oriented online magazine written by and for teens. Smart, fun and rather quirky, we aim to entertain our readers, provide a niche for young writers and  hopefully, provoke a little thought in this world of sheeple.

Happy reading and thanks to everyone who made our second issue possible!

A  Note from the Editor

Hi there! Bienvenue, Bienvenidos, Ahlan wa Sahlan, Wilkommen–however you like it, welcome to Word!’s second issue! A huge thank you to all our supporters and of course–our talented contributors. You’ve made the zine what it is: a quirky, thought-provoking publication as awesome as yourselves.

For those of you who are new to Word!….it’s an online arts-oriented magazine written by and for teenagers. We publish a wide range of material: humor, philosophy, opinion, comics, artwork, music, film, poetry and more. I’ll quote a member of our editorial staff, Joestin Benjamin here, “We strive to bring today’s world to fellow teenagers by writing about the what’s and why’s of the world around us in a refreshing, modern, unique style.” Still have more questions? Click here.

From a cover article looking back on 9/11 to an opinion piece criticizing the abstinence movement to music reviews of the Flobots, this issue turned out to be a lot more political than our editorial staff expected. Just a clarification–Word! has no political agenda. It’s concerned with honest,  high-quality writing and creative expression by young people. I believe that all our articles meet that criteria. Apart from the political writing, there are great humor articles, poetry, photography and much, much more. What are you waiting for? Start reading!

I can honestly think of nothing more to say, except that I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I did. Cheers and let us know what you think; it’s you we’re writing for, after all.

Toodles!
