I see angels all around me…
Did you think I’d give it up?
Are you crazy??
Lose what I’ve become.
You don’t know me.
You don’t own my soul.
Black and white,
Are all I see,
In my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be,
Reaching out to me.
Let me see…
Unbolt my eyes,
Ahhh, it burns.
…Blinded by the beams.
Difficult to see you in this light…
Daylight dims, leaving a cold fluorescence.
Time to sleep.
These nights are getting longer.
Seems like I’ve always been awake.
The shadows slither up and shake my hand.
Envelopes me safely away from those cursed beams.
Allows me to imagine, to dream.
Yes, it holds uncertainly, but endless possibility.
The black void takes me in gently.
I am free.
I see everything clearly now.
Do they pray for holiness or just prey on my willingness
To starve, beg, consume for something they can’t prove?
They are coming.
Hide myself from it all while every fear is
Screaming night into dawn until I realize
I have to believe the lies.
All my inner fears that tear at me,
I will never believe them.
But yet they find me…
They split me open at the seams.
And rip out everything inside.
Then they make room for all these new machines.
Sew me up, and pray that I survive.
Anticipating all the cost I feel.
The weight of all I’ve lost.
Then you place me under oath
And take your shots after it’s all been done.
You’re so crazy!
Sitting on your throne…
Check my tone, you’ve pissed me off.
I don’t know you.
You sure as hell don’t know me.
And I’ll set this place on fire.
Just break and burn down everything.
I’m made of metallic parts and wires now.
I won’t feel a thing.
You say you fear me…
Why do you lie?
From the shadows,
I weave the truth by untangling the spool of lies,
Stitching together a transparent life with threads of doubt.
Hold on to the mendacities of which I’ve lived in full.
Don’t worry, the pendulum will still swing for you,
It’s a little too late for me.
I see angels all around me…
I see angels…you can’t touch me…
Little angels, go away.
Come again some other day.
The devil has my ear today.
I’ll never hear a word you say.
He promised I would find a little comfort
And some peace of mind.
Whatever just as long as I don’t feel so…
