Our Time Now

It’s the first day of school. You hesitate outside. You’ve seen these doors before, but today they’re different. It’s senior year and time is running out. We have gotten through the years talking about how we were going to pole dance in the gymnastics room and dye our hair. We kept saying “next weekend” and “next year” until now, when we realize that this is our last chance. By this time next year, our class will have dispersed all over the country. Graduation seems far away now, but time flies, days will turn to weeks, week into months and before we know it our entire class won’t be a single unit anymore by this time next year, the class we have spent four years, eight semesters, and (I don’t know how many weeks but you could find that out) eating lunch with will be dispersed throughout the country. Some of us will go to California; some will head east to try the big city anonymity of New York. Those of us lucky enough to accompany our friends to college have no guarantees as to how long they’ll stay that way.
Let’s face it: this is our last year together. We aren’t freshmen anymore, guys, so let’s get over our shyness and do something bold this year. We have been waiting for it and it’s finally, our time now. Lets reach all the goals we have set, pull the wackiest stunts, and let’s be the class that our high school never forgets. We are the kings and Queens of the hill so lets live it up!
We heard our parents talk about the crazy things they did in high school like go streaking through the football field during the football game, spraining an ankle while running in place, and putting frogs in a freshmen’s locker. They had their time and now it’s ours, I don’t recommend the streaking, but let’s make memories that we are sure to never forget. Let’s do something outrageous, something so crazy that the story will never be forgotten.
It’s our time now guys, to push our selves beyond limits and expectations. If you like the guy down the hallway, tell him, chances are you might never see him again after this year. Go on and pole dance dirty, dye your hair a different color each week. Live this year so hard that in thirty years, you will remember every minute of it and say, “That was the best freaking year of my entire life.” The worst that could happen is that we might end up having a little more fun along the way. It’s our time now for that wicked fun, wicked cool, wicked sweet senior year.
